Growing up, Godzilla was was that monster (sometimes friend, sometimes foe) on WLVI’s “Creature Double Feature” on Saturday afternoons. Then in the 90s, Hollywood tried to make a big budget version of him that was terrible. In the most recent years they’ve improved with the whole “Monsterverse” thing that they have going with King Kong.
But in all that time, Japan has continued to produce movies featuring the monster that originated there – and today I watched the most recent, Oscar winning, version of Godzilla on the screen – and all I can say is, Wow.
