Tonight FNE Movie Month took me out to the theater. However, I did not see one of the big comic book movies out there – I still need to see some of the previous ones before I am all caught up.
Tonight my buddy and I went to see the 2014 Seth Rogan and Zac Efron comedy, Neighbors. I talked my friend out of seeing the other Seth’s western comedy in order to see this one and all I can say is….
I am so happy that I did.
This movie was really, really funny. Nothing special, nothing groundbreaking. But that’s not what it was trying to be. It was just trying to make you laugh.
And laugh I did.
Everybody knows – a frat moves next door to a young family. Hilarity ensues.
Of course having the young family be Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne helps a lot. Seth Rogen is just so freaking likable as well as being hilarious. Even if he’s been in a bad movie, I like him in it – and I can’t say I know of him being in a bad movie, at least nothing I’ve seen.
And I was…okay not surprised that Zac Efron could pull it off – I have seen 2 of the High School Musicals (don’t judge me) and I know the guy has talent. And I think he did a really good job in this role too. Likable when he needed to be, prickish when he needed to be, a the perfect frat guy foil to Rogen’s man-child.
And I love Rose Byrne. That’s all.
I love Rose Byrne.
Hey this is actually my second movie in a row with Rose Byrne…Hmm, wonder if she’ll make it to tomorrow’s movie.
I have to admit, when I first saw a trailer for this I wasn’t sure what to think. I was afraid it wasn’t going to be that good. I like what I heard from Seth Rogen when he was on Howard Stern, and I was happy to see the reviews were positive. Yes, pleasantly surprised, I admit it.
When I saw the first trailer for A Million Ways to Die in the West, I thought it was a funny idea, looked like it had some funny moments, and was going to be a bad bad movie.
So when my friend texted me and asked me to go see “A Million Ways to Kill a Cowboy” I suggested we go see Neighbors instead.
Today my wife and I went to a high school graduation party, my buddy was there too. It made us feel old. This movie made us yearn for the early years too – but it also showed that it was okay to age…
Crap, this movie isn’t supposed to have a message! Nevermind, I didn’t learn anything from it – I just laughed my ass off.
And that was the real message.
