Inception

This past Sunday I went to see the highly anticipated and highly reviewed Inception, the latest movie written and directed by Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan.

And this Sunday – I hope to see it again. Yeah, that good.

There’s not much I can say that hasn’t already been said about this movie. In fact, there is nothing I can say that hasn’t already been said – except for MY opinion on it. And I already gave me opinion.

Yeah, that good.

I was expecting something good. So far Christopher Nolan hasn’t made a movie that I’ve disliked, and I think that Leonardo DiCaprio is probably the best American actor of the last 10 years. So, when I heard they were making a movie together – I think we all were expecting something good. Then I see all the reviews and they all seem to be glowing, so finally I get to see it.

Yeah, that good.

The basic premise of the movie is this – people can break into your dreams and steal information. Now someone is hiring these people to actually put in information – to give someone an idea.

The WHY they are doing this is the most unimportant part of the movie. It’s WHAT they do and HOW they do it that is mind-blowing and confusing and brilliant and frightening all at the same time.

I loved how there are rules within the dreamworld, yet there seem to be boundaries only based on one’s imagination.

My parents might be going to see this tomorrow and they asked me if they were going to get confused. I told them – yes, probably – but it was still worth it. I am sure I didn’t get and understand everything, but I did my best to take it all in and enjoy this amazing ride.

This movie definitely requires a second viewing – only so that I can back and try to focus more and enjoy it even more. That being said, I enjoyed it immensely and found it a great way to finish off a two week vacation.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this movie was a contender in many Oscar categories next year. Great acting, great directing, an amazingly original screenplay that challenges the viewer. A real cinematic masterpiece.

Yeah, that good.

Now I know this wasn’t much of a review – but I just had to say SOMETHING about it – and I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.
